Hana Ricna

Coach Hana is our Head Coach working with our competitive teams and recreational classes.
Hana Ricna was Czechoslovakia's star gymnast throughout much of the 1980s. In 1984, politics kept her, and many other athletes from Communist countries, from competing in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

Instead, she and other gymnasts competed at Olomouc, in what has become known as the Alternate games. There, Hana earned silver medals in the AA and on balance beam (the gold went to Mostepanova who scored a perfect 40.00!).

Hana's desire to compete in the Olympics was strong, and although past her prime, she pushed through injuries to compete in the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

Having realized her dream of competing in the Olympics, Hana retired from competition and pursued her studies, earning a Master's Degree in Physical Education after which she turned her attention to coaching.
